Brandon, Fla. (Sept. 25, 2012) – The Southeast Produce Council (SEPC) opened its fall conference with record attendance and elected new leaders. Reed Transport’s COO Mike Ryan was elected as a new member to its Board of Directors. Each new board member serves a two-year term beginning September, 22 2012.

The newly elected SEPC board members will apply their experience and expertise to help guide the SEPC’s vision to be the premier resource for produce education and information.

The council has captured the attention of like organizations across the U.S. with its remarkable success. Attendance at last spring’s Southern Exposure expo was a record 1,599 and this year’s fall conference will also set a new attendance record. The first meeting of the council 13 years ago drew six people.

“I’m honored and excited to join the board of directors at the Southeast Produce Council and help promote the produce business within the southeast region,” said Mike Ryan, COO. “I look forward to working with the other members of the board as we continue the important work of the SEPC.”

Mike Ryan joins the board of directors along two other new members: Brandon Parker, sales manager of Shuman Produce Inc., Reidsville, Ga., and Tommy Wilkins, director of produce procurement for United Supermarkets LLC, Lubbock, Texas.
