REEDTMS AIDS THE SOUTHEAST PRODUCE COUNCIL IN RAMP AMERICA PROJECT

Brandon, Fla. (July 2, 2012) – ReedTMS announced today that it has recently partnered with the Southeast Produce Council (SEPC) to join their initiative to assist RAMP America, a non-profit organization which aids poverty-stricken families in the Appalachian region of the United States.

Martin County, located in rural Appalachia, is home to some of the most impoverished people in the United States and continues to face many challenges. Access to healthy food and economic opportunity is scarce. Moreover, the county’s isolation makes it difficult to access federal and other assistance programs: currently there are little to no human or social services available in the area.

RAMP works with the Martin County community to identify critical needs and create solutions focusing on nutrition, economic development, and emergency relief intervention, with a special focus on children and families. They also connect resources locally and nationally to address basic human needs where other resources are limited or inaccessible. For more information on RAMP, visit, www.rampamerica.org
.

RAMP has partnered with the SEPC to collect donations from their members and ReedTMS has joined the cause and will help with the efficient delivery of resources.

“The Southeast Produce Council is committed to assisting RAMP in their efforts to aid poverty-stricken families in Appalachia. This program helps families in ‘our backyard’ and I am overwhelmed by the support our members have shown in helping us with the RAMP project,” said Terry Vorhees, Executive Director of the Southeast Produce Council. “ReedTMS has stepped up to help by transporting much needed food to Martin County, KY. Our thanks to Mike Ryan and the entire team at ReedTMS. Together we can make a difference.”

ReedTMS has pledged to send their drivers and pick up donated goods from various locations and deliver them to the Appalachian region on their trucks at no charge.

“Currently, we have had the pleasure of moving one truckload from the Washington, D.C. area into the Appalachian region, and knowing our asset-team is impacting the residents of this impoverished county is very rewarding,” said Mike Ryan, COO of ReedTMS. “We look forward to contributing to the cause and moving many more truckloads in the future.”
